The Goblin Race
The Goblin Race has been a staple in Strophya for at least two millenia. They are known as one of the most violent races in Strophya, and for good reason too. They are an all-male race where the breeding is sexual in nature. Goblins can be found mostly in the Shashallah Desert, however they have been known to be seen as far as the Shuduk Range where they have set up small settlements.
History:
Goblins come from the Sorlyan Race Line, the oldest and most prominent Race Line in Strophya today. They were Children of a Chieftain known as Golocorth. Scriptures and several myths pased down through generations speak of Golocorth waging War against an Elven King, their feud born of greed for land and power. It was in the final charge against the Elven King that an Elven GrandMage known as Zuril stepped up and cursed the whole line of Golocorth, including the Chieftain himself. All the women and children turned into grown men, and these men all began to notice their skin changing to a dark green. As the Children of Golocorth saw their changes they continued charging against the Elves, striking down Zuril before he could ascend to Godhood, and striking down the Elvish forces with such ferocity and anger that those who witnessed the battle and wrote of it describe them as "...beasts whose hunger for blood and violence could not be quenched. Soon, after the Elves all laid slain in a red massacre, their King pleaded for his life before being torn apart in the most violent manner, the whole time the Children of Golocorth laughed and danced around the carnage..."
One the Children of Golocorth took the land from the Elves, they found that they had all become Male. Their curse was in the inability to breed in a normal fashion, something the Elves had planned to deter them from ever swelling their ranks again. This brought on a division between the Children of Golocorth. One side decided to use Magic in order to create stronger and better versions of themselves, this group were called the Orcs. The Other group found a method, the origins of which are contested among Goblins and Orcs, where sexual relations led to a pregnancy. This Group was exiled from the land of the Children of Golocorth by the Orcs and told to face the consequences of their actions out in the Desert.
After centuries of inbreeding, the modern Goblin was born. Their stature is less than 4'5", and their banks are usually hunched. They suffer from various facial deformities such as bigger than usual noses and misshapen perked up ears. They see past this and to this day consider their way the best path of action.
Culture:
Goblins are born and bred as some of the most violent warriors in Strophya. From day one they experience the whip of their Trainer, and it is with this whip that they learn to move. Now, Goblins are of course not whipping babies or toddlers of course. When a Goblin is impregnated, he carries the "child" for a whole entire year. Throughout this Year the belly of the Father may be just as big as the Father himself. Every birth is delivered by cutting the lower stomach skin and letting the newborn fall to the floor. Every newborn Goblin is born as a teenager, already being able to speak and walk. The Father is then healed, though there is a high chance that they might not survive that birth at all. This violent and deadly way of breeding keeps Goblin numbers lower than those of other races around Strophya.
Once a Goblin has reached full maturity, usually around 5 years after their birth, they are introduced into a Warband. Warbands range in size, method, and goals. While some are out to rob and kill Caravans, there are others especializing in Stealth and Pillaging. There are even Warbands that offer their services should someone want an extra set of eyes on a caravan or wishes to see someone taken out of the picture. Goblins, however, cannot be trusted and more often than not will turn on their employer. Although there is no one set Goblin town or city, they come together every so often to trade among themselves and to show off their Warbands. The bigger the Warband, the more respect and Power a Goblin has.
Goblins themselves do not see each other as kin, and more often than not Father and Son find themselves in different Warbands, fighting each other. The only Family a Goblin has is their Warband, and they see that bond as stronger than blood.
