The Theysilon Empire is by far the most powerful entity in the world of Strophya, and records of the world before its rise to power show that no other alliance has stood for as long as it has. No other kingdom or clan has had the loyalty and diversity of the citizens under the Theysilon banner.
Many have speculated that the Theysilon were always there, being made from the remnants of a broken alliance between the Human Tribes. However, this myth holds little, if any, truth and the Rise of the Empire and the creation of the Theysilon is the product of the coming together of 8 individuals.
The first Council of Shadows came together deep in what is now known as Rentiel. During the time of the Warring Tribes of Men and the Elven Mandates, the Council began to put in motion plans to gather the Human Tribes under one banner and begin to expand their hold over the world of Strophya. The first Council of Shadows contained 8 Human members, they were as follows:
- Kinneras, Master Mage of Water Magic
- Brorunden, Paladin of the Draconic Order
- Resthrat, Chief of Clan Esphiron
- Ertherat, Sister of Resthrat and Master Mage of Projectile Magic
- Fenix, Head Ranger of the Titil Clan
- Jasumer, Assassin of the Lost Clouds Clan
- Themiur, Architect and Artificier
- Nerelith, Chief of the Derelict Clan
It was these 8 men and women that put forth the very first drafts of what would become the Theysilon's signature weapons, the Mechanomicons.
Though not humanoid in shape at first, but rather bulky artifacts filled with power held within gems that generated magic energy, they proved to be very useful against the Enemies of the Human Tribes, the Elves. The Elven Mandates were lengthy tomes that outlined the birthright of the Elves to the lands they held and the warning that should any of the other races violate those rights, they would be met with War. Elves never sought to expand their Empires, after all they held more than half of Strophya at their highest point, and would not give it up. The Human Tribes sought to expand their own territories as they were far too numerous and started to seek land from the Elves. It was this indiscretion that made the Elves react in a violent manner, thus beginning the Human Elf Wars.
The Theysilon knew in order to gain the favor of the strongest tribes they would need to first attack their greatest enemy, and so set their sights on the Elves.
In the beginning of the year 386 of the Sun cycle, the Theysilon began their move. Flanking the Elven forces through the woods that once stretched over the land that is the Main Capital, their Mechanomicon war machines tore through the Elves and allowed the tribes to settle in their new lands.
In a manner of months, the Theysilon drove the Elves back, mercilessly killing all who stood in their path and cornering the once proud Elf Kingdom against their enemies from the North, the Dwarves.
The Elves, seeing no way to survive other than to hide, sacrificed many of their own to create a ritual that would hide them from the outside world, thus they avoided being found and survived eradication by the Theysilon. The Theysilon, now having spread the Human Tribes amongst most of what was once Elven Lands, retreated.
The first Dwarven Treaty was created after this victory against the Elves that left them hiding inside the forest north of the Main Capital. It was named Ghrithalla after the main Hero of the Campaign, Ghrithal Kiej, a mighty warrior that perished in the last charge against the Elves.
As the Theysilon returned home to the Main Capital, the Council of Shadows knew that they were in position to ask allegiance from the Human Tribes. They called together the Tribes and Clans, gathering them in the city of Kildreth, now known as the Main Capital. There they spoke to the Tribes, telling them of their pushing of the Elves, of the many lands they had provided, and of the prosperous future ahead should they choose to join them under one banner. The main Clan, the Titil, stood as the head of this new Alliance who would be known as the Theysilon. Most of the Tribes, eager to expand through all of Strophya and conquer the world, agreed. However, there were many Tribes still who refused to join the Theysilon, speaking ill of them and preferring to stay as standalone Tribes and Clans. Whether their response was out of a flimsy idea of self-respect or because they thought themselves stronger is lost in time. As they stood in the meeting, the Chiefs of the Tribes who would not join were directed to wait in their respective tents until the call as given for the next meeting, the last meeting. No such meeting ever came, and the Theysilon sent their now Allied Tribes to kill all of those who would stand against them. The Allied Tribes agreed, knowing full well the power of the Theysilon and what would happen should they not listen to them. In one night, a third of remaining Human Tribes in Strophya were eradicated, their mark erased from the world, and those that remained were stripped of their names and all joined under one banner, the banner of the Theysilon.
The Dwarven Treaty proved very useful, as now the Empire had means to create their weapons and Mechanomicons at a steady pace. A tribute system was set up for the settlements and towns that belonged to the Tribes who were now part of the Theysilon, and those that were from the Forgotten as the eradicated tribes were called, were divvied up among Beastfolk and Humans alike. It was this housing and protection that gave the Theysilon the Beastfolk as allies. They would not enslave them, nor would they strike against them or their Tribes so long as they paid tribute and obeyed the rules of the Empire.
The Orcs from The Peaks grew brave as they saw the Elves hold back. Expecting little resistance they charged down from their mountains only to be met with Theysilon steel. A mistake they would never make again. In the place of the biggest battle against the Orcs, the city of Herrtikuk was constructed, and for a while served as the Capital of the Theysilon Empire whole Kildreth was being reconstructed.
As the Empire turned their sighs South, they were met with resistance from the Ifrit and Goblins that inhabited the Shashallah Desert. Using their Mechanomicons and now Beastfolk Allies, as well as their established trade routes that spanned all the way to the Shuduk Range, they moved into the Shashallah Desert, their numbers in the hundreds of thousands. The Ifrits were nearly wiped out before striking a treaty of peace where they would pay tribute and the Theysilon would leave them alone. The Goblins were not as lucky. They had to hide and became slaves to the Theysilon. They survival was only guaranteed when one of their kind directed the Theysilon to the Entrance to the Undine Empire, granting the remainder of his kin pardon and their lives.
The Theysilon sent Emissaries to the Undine Kingdom, and a treaty was struck to deal with them as well as to protect them. The Theysilon also agreed to build outposts on the Shores of the Osrean Sea to supply the Undine with ways to trade safely with them. The Theysilon now had the third biggest kingdom in Strophya as their allies.
Finally, the Theysilon moved to take the valley of Rentiel and come to terms with the Halflings, but just as they were about to move in to secure the Valley, Demons moved against them, their charges tearing through most of the settlements in the Shuduk and Ghrithalla area. The Theysilon, barely able to hold them off were left with little choice but to surrender the North of Strophya w
to the Demons. It was through this attack that the Dwarves were forced to move South, and as such there are many Dwarf settlements in Shashallah and around the Main Capital.
It was through the redesigning of the Mechanomicons by Themiur that the Theysilon were able to push against the Demons and drive them back to the Underworld beneath Shuduk. This was the first use of Humanoid Mechanomicons and the type of Mechanomicons we are used to today.
Victory over the Demons was seeing as a sign of the Gods to many, however when the temples were open to paid tribute they were found empty. The Gods had closed Evergreen. The Theysilon, assuring their people that they did not need the Gods, proceeded to demolish every temple and hunt down every known Ancient, forsaking the Gods and proving once more that they were a force to be reckoned with.
After the Victory against the Demons, Themiur was crowned the first Emperor of the Theysilon. His lineage would go on for 400 years before the current Esphiron Line took control of the Throne.
The Halflings, shortly after the Victory against the Demons, willingly gave in to the Empire and agreed to pay tribute. The Empire now controlled most of Strophya, and with little opposition they settled to seek out those who stand against them to control all of the world.
It is man's true nature to control all that he sees. The Theysilon live by those words. We rise. We rend. We are Theysilon.
